The Greyhound Bus is used as a metaphor for leaving a relationship, home, a job, etc. Since the roots of this come from the Upper Midwest I hoped to flavor the song with that local color. The Hull Rust Mine is the world’s largest open mine pit and acts as a backdrop to where the relationship may end up.
Not a happy ending.
